Farmer Charlie Hatcher Beats Trump-Backed Rep. Ogles in Tennessee Primary

Fifth-generation dairy farmer Charlie Hatcher defeated Trump-endorsed Rep. Andy Ogles in Tennessee's 5th District Republican primary, 53% to 47%. A primary is a party's internal contest to pick its nominee. Ogles, who held the seat since 2023, was the second Trump-backed candidate to lose a primary that week. Hatcher faces Democrat Chaz Molder in November.
