Dairy Farmer Charlie Hatcher Ousts Trump-Backed Rep. Andy Ogles in Tennessee Primary

Fifth-generation dairy farmer and former state agriculture commissioner Charlie Hatcher defeated Trump-endorsed incumbent Rep. Andy Ogles in Tennessee's 5th District Republican primary on August 6, 53% to 47%. Ogles, who held the seat since 2023, was the second Trump-backed candidate to lose a primary that week. Hatcher faces Democrat Chaz Molder in November.
