Trump Targets Birthright Citizenship and Birth Tourism Again
President Trump signed two executive actions on August 6, 2026. One limits birthright citizenship — the automatic citizenship granted to people born on U.S. soil. Another tightens visa rules for visitors coming to give birth in the U.S. The Supreme Court struck down a similar effort in June 2026 by a 6-3 vote. Trump said he believes the actions are constitutional but provided no details, NPR reported.
