Extreme Heat Rises, Climate Belief Falls

An August 2026 AP-NORC poll of 1,165 U.S. adults finds 90% report extreme heat affecting their lives, up from 83% two years prior. Yet belief in climate change dropped from 73% in September 2025 to 66%. This widening gap between lived experience and acceptance complicates building lasting public support for adaptation policy.
