More Americans Feel the Heat, But Fewer Think Climate Change Is Real

An August 2026 poll of 1,165 U.S. adults finds 90% say extreme heat has affected their lives, up from 83% two years ago. But belief in climate change fell from 73% to 66%. This gap makes it harder to pass long-term plans for dealing with heat, like cooling centers or stronger power grids.
