Ex-Spotify engineers raise $10M to bring recommendation tech to e-commerce

Malachyte, founded by three engineers behind Spotify's recommendation system — used by 800 million people — raised a $10M seed on August 6, 2026. Bessemer Venture Partners and Gradient co-led. The startup adapts that personalization architecture for real-time product recommendations on Shopify and via API.
