Statistics watchdog rules Starmer's defence spending figures misleading

The UK Statistics Authority said Sir Keir Starmer, the Wales Office and the Ministry of Defence misleadingly presented £270bn — total defence spending across the Parliament — as an increase. Interim chair Penny Young told shadow defence secretary James Cartlidge the description was "incorrect and misleading." Starmer first used the figure to MPs in March.
