Watchdog says Starmer used misleading defence numbers

The official statistics watchdog said Sir Keir Starmer's government presented £270bn of total defence spending over several years as if it were extra money. That is misleading, said interim chair Penny Young, in a reply to Conservative MP James Cartlidge. Starmer first used the figure to MPs in March.
