
CDC Expands Cyclosporiasis Outbreak to 15 States; Michigan Reports First U.S. Deaths
The CDC now counts 6,707 confirmed cyclosporiasis cases across 15 states, with roughly 11,500 more suspected. Six new states joined the outbreak. Michigan, hardest hit at 11,234 cases, reported the first two U.S. deaths. Cyclosporiasis, a parasitic infection spread through contaminated food or water, has reached unprecedented scale — and the summer's produce season is far from over.
