15 Elephants Dead in Kenya; Cyanide Pesticides from Tomato Farms Suspected

Fifteen elephants died between 24 June and 24 July 2026 in Kenya's Kimana corridor, linking Amboseli and Tsavo National Parks. KWS suspects cyanide-based pesticides on tomato farms caused the partial paralysis observed in carcasses. Conservationists and local farmers doubt pesticides alone explain the deaths, citing decades of coexistence without comparable die-offs. Toxicology results are pending.
