Extortionist Used AI-Altered Content to Get Telegram Pulled from App Store

Apple removed Telegram from its App Store on August 3, 2026, after an extortionist edited an old message in a public Telegram group to insert AI-modified child sexual abuse material, then reported it to Apple. The edited content was hidden from active chat members. Apple pulled the app before contacting Telegram. Telegram was restored the same day.
