Former NRL player tells inquiry gambling firms supplied drugs to keep him betting

Ex-rugby league player Luke Bateman has told a parliamentary inquiry that gambling companies' VIP managers gave him illicit drugs and alcohol to keep him betting. One offered him "a couple of bags for the weekend" at race-day marquees. His addiction cost him about A$1 million — A$80,000 in a single month.
