Ex-NRL player tells inquiry gambling firms gave him drugs to keep him betting

Former rugby league player Luke Bateman has told a parliamentary inquiry that gambling company VIP managers supplied him with illicit drugs and alcohol to keep him betting. He said a VIP manager offered him "a couple of bags for the weekend" at race day marquees. Bateman's addiction cost him about A$1 million, including A$80,000 in one month.
