
Suffolk wildfire near Sizewell nuclear sites stabilises after 24-hour blaze
A 150-hectare wildfire on Dunwich Heath, Suffolk, burned for over 24 hours within miles of Sizewell B nuclear station and the Sizewell C construction site. EDF, the plant operator, activated emergency plans; The Times reported Sizewell B on "high alert." EDF said operations were unaffected. Around 50 people were evacuated. Over 100 firefighters, including six London units, fought the blaze, declared stabilising on 31 July 2026.
