Large fire near Suffolk nuclear sites brought under control
A wildfire covering 150 hectares — roughly 210 football pitches — burned on Dunwich Heath, Suffolk, for over 24 hours, within miles of two nuclear sites. EDF, the company that runs them, activated emergency plans but said the fire did not affect operations. Around 50 people left their homes. More than 100 firefighters brought the blaze under control by 31 July 2026.
