Clark warns Peters' comment to Chinese-born MP could split coalition

Former Prime Minister Helen Clark told RNZ that Winston Peters telling Chinese-born Green MP Lawrence Xu-Nan to "go back to your own country" invites dismissal. Clark said NZ First's conduct risks breaking up the coalition and questioned Peters' handling of the China relationship. Xu-Nan came here as a child and has lived in New Zealand 32 years. China has formally complained. Peters called critics "pearl clutchers and communist shills."
