Diane Abbott reinstated to Labour after long disciplinary saga

Diane Abbott regained the Labour whip on 30 July 2026, ending a process begun in April 2023 when she said Jewish, Irish, and Traveller people faced prejudice, not racism. Twice suspended, she completed antisemitism awareness training and apologised. Labour's independent review board approved readmission; the party says leadership played no role.
