Diane Abbott readmitted to Labour after three-year, two-suspension saga
Diane Abbott had the Labour whip restored on 30 July 2026, closing a disciplinary process begun in April 2023 when she argued Jewish, Irish, and Traveller people experienced prejudice rather than racism. Suspended twice, she completed antisemitism awareness training and now apologised with a formal warning on file. Labour's independent review board approved the readmission; the party says leadership played no role.
