Rand Paul to Pursue Contempt Charge Against Fauci After Senate Hearing

Former NIAID director Anthony Fauci declined to answer questions more than 100 times before the Senate Homeland Security Committee on July 29, 2026, citing his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said he would seek a contempt of Congress charge, which requires a Senate floor vote and a Justice Department referral. Fauci has denied Paul's cover-up allegations.
