Rand Paul to Seek Contempt of Congress Charge Against Fauci After Hearing

Former NIAID director Anthony Fauci invoked his Fifth Amendment right more than 100 times before the Senate HSGAC on July 29, 2026, declining questions on COVID-19 origins. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said he would push to hold Fauci in contempt of Congress, a process requiring a Senate floor vote and Justice Department referral. Fauci has denied Paul's cover-up allegations.
