For the first time, more Americans support than oppose full-day school cell phone bans

A Pew Research Center survey published July 29, 2026 finds 48% of U.S. adults back bell-to-bell cell phone bans in schools, versus 18% opposed — the first time supporters outnumbered opponents. Support stood at 36% two years ago. More than 20 states have already enacted such bans, putting legislation ahead of where public opinion has now arrived.
