For the first time, more Americans support than oppose all-day cell phone bans in schools

A Pew Research Center survey published July 29, 2026 finds 48% of U.S. adults support banning cell phones for the full school day, versus 18% opposed — the first time supporters outnumbered opponents. Support stood at 36% two years ago. Over 20 states have already enacted such bans, meaning the law got ahead of public opinion, which has only now caught up.
