Sulemana Abdul Samed, known as "Awuche" and widely regarded as Ghana's tallest man, died July 27, 2026, at age 33. A Gambaga resident told the BBC that doctors had said he was responding well to treatment before his sudden death. Samed had Marfan syndrome — a genetic disorder affecting connective tissue — and gigantism, with abnormal growth beginning at age 22.
