Saudi Prince Bought 5% of Lucid on Day Bankruptcy Rumor Broke
Prince Al Waleed bin Talal acquired 19 million Lucid Motors shares — a 5% passive stake — on July 14, 2026, per an SEC Schedule 13G filing disclosed July 28. That same day, an EV blog reported Lucid was weighing bankruptcy or a PIF-led take-private deal; Lucid denied it. The PIF already holds roughly 60% of Lucid. The prince called the purchase, made below a $2 billion market cap, an independent vote of confidence.
