GSL slashes costs and doubles late-stage trials as HIV patent cliff looms

GSK plans to cut £1.9bn in annual costs by 2029 and send at least 20 medicines into late-stage trials in 2026, double its prior target. Patents on dolutegravir — its top HIV drug, about a fifth of sales — expire between 2028 and 2030. CEO Luke Miels targets £40bn-plus revenue, with margins expected to hold despite the patent cliff.
