RSE scheme reforms announced with 2027 rollout
Immigration Minister Erica Stanford has announced changes to the Recognised Seasonal Employer scheme, which brings about 17,000 workers from Asia and the Pacific each year for horticulture and viticulture work. Reforms include a tiered employer accreditation system, more worker mobility between employers, and clearer cost-recovery rules. Stanford expects decisions by late September, with staged introduction from early 2027 through 2029.
