
Germany's Arms Exports to Israel Surge, Led by Submarine Deal
Germany approved nearly 800 million euros in arms export licences to Israel from January to May 2026 — more than the prior 20 months combined, per Foreign Office data released through an AfD parliamentary question. Over 60% funds one project: the INS Drakon, a nuclear-capable Dolphin II-class submarine built by ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems. Germany reportedly covers about 30% of its cost.
