H5 Bird Flu Suspected in Seven Terns on South Australia's Limestone Coast

South Australia reported seven suspected H5 bird flu cases in greater crested terns along the Limestone Coast on July 27, 2026. One was found at Port MacDonnell, just over 20km from Victoria. CSIRO is analysing samples; confirmation would bring SA's total to 14. BirdLife Australia's Kate Millar called the outbreak "taking hold," warning spring breeding could amplify viral spread.
