People on benefits spending more than they receive, FinCap finds
People on benefits are spending $108 for every $100 they receive — a record shortfall — FinCap's 2026 Voices report finds. The report draws on 30,654 financial mentor cases from 2025. Clients put 38.1 percent of income toward rent, 19.5 percent toward groceries and 14.2 percent toward debt repayment. Power prices rose about 12 percent across the year.
