Beneficiaries spending $108 for every $100 they receive, FinCap report finds

People on benefits are spending a median of $108 for every $100 in weekly income — a record deficit — according to FinCap's 2026 Voices report. The findings draw on 30,654 financial mentor cases from 2025. Clients directed 38.1 percent of income to rent, 19.5 percent to groceries and 14.2 percent to debt repayment. Power prices rose about 12 percent across 2025.
