Anthropic Launches Claude Opus 5 at Half the Price of Fable 5

Anthropic released Claude Opus 5 on July 24, 2026, at $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens — flat from Opus 4.8 and half the cost of its Mythos-class Claude Fable 5. Anthropic says Opus 5 nearly matches Fable 5 in many domains, with major gains in coding, reasoning, and agentic tasks. It also slightly undercuts OpenAI's GPT-5.6.
