Houthi Blockade on Saudi Arabia Disrupts Red Sea Shipping

Yemen's Houthis declared a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia on July 20, 2026. Ships diverted, war risk insurance premiums climbed, and by July 22 the Houthis claimed attacks on two Saudi vessels. Saudi Arabia condemned the move; the coalition called it a violation of international law. The Houthis say they are retaliating for Saudi Arabia's own blockade on Yemen.
