Utah flash flood kills fire captain and four family members on monsoon-season hike

A flash flood at Sunglow Campground near Bicknell, Utah, killed Provo Fire & Rescue Captain Spencer Long, his wife Katrina, and their sons Reid, Thayne, and Gage. Heavy monsoon-season rains sent a sudden surge through canyon drainages. Their daughter, absent from the hike, survived. A multi-agency recovery effort ran Friday evening through Saturday.
