Biggest weddings law reform in nearly 200 years proposed for England and Wales

The Ministry of Justice is consulting on the largest overhaul of weddings law in England and Wales since the 19th century. Couples could marry at home, in a pub, or on a cruise ship, if a registered officiant approves the venue. The consultation closes on 24 September; Parliament must pass legislation first. Marriage law is devolved to Scotland and Northern Ireland.
