Couples could marry at home or in a pub under proposed wedding law changes

The government wants to let couples in England and Wales marry almost anywhere — at home, in a pub, or on a cruise ship — as long as an approved official agrees to the spot. People have until 24 September to give their views. New laws are needed first. Scotland and Northern Ireland make their own wedding rules.
