Australia cuts daily smoking to 5.6%, clearing 2025 target and nearing 2030 goal

Australia's daily smoking rate among people 14 and older fell to 5.6% in 2025, down from 8.3% in 2022–23, per the AIHW's survey of over 17,500 Australians. That beats the federal National Tobacco Strategy's 2025 target of under 10% and puts the 2030 goal of 5% within reach.
