Australia's daily smoking rate among people aged 14 and above dropped to 5.6% in 2025, down from 8.3% in 2022–23, according to the AIHW National Drug Strategy Household Survey of over 17,500 Australians. The result clears the federal National Tobacco Strategy's target of under 10% by 2025 and puts the 2030 goal of 5% within reach.
