US Hits Brazil With 25% Tariffs — First Target of New Section 301 Trade Strategy

Starting July 22, the US imposes 25% tariffs on select Brazilian goods after a USTR probe found unfair trade practices, including weak anti-corruption enforcement. Brazil is the first country targeted under the administration's Section 301 strategy. Coffee, beef, and aerospace parts are exempt. Brazil has invoked a reciprocity law allowing retaliation. A separate forced-labor inquiry ends July 24.
