Apple Sues Former Engineer for Using Undetected Flaw to Download Confidential Files

Apple alleges that Chang Liu, a systems engineer who joined OpenAI in February 2026, exploited an undetected authentication vulnerability to access network storage and download dozens of hardware files after leaving the company. The zero-day gap in access controls remained unnoticed until Liu discovered it himself. Server logs indicate only Liu accessed the system. Apple has since patched the flaw.
