New Zealand and India formalize defence maritime cooperation

Prime Ministers Christopher Luxon and Narendra Modi agreed on 11 July to elevate New Zealand–India relations to a "strategic partnership" and established a formal maritime cooperation arrangement between their defence forces. The deal anchors New Zealand's Indo-Pacific security approach and sits within a broader roadmap to double bilateral trade by 2030.
