New Zealand and India deepen defence ties

Prime Ministers Christopher Luxon and Narendra Modi agreed on 11 July to upgrade New Zealand–India relations to a "strategic partnership". They also signed an agreement formalizing how their defence forces will work together at sea. The move anchors New Zealand's security strategy in the Indo-Pacific region and targets doubling trade between the countries by 2030.
