Chinese Dinosaur Family Appears in Thailand, Reshaping Sauropod Geography

Paleontologists have formally identified Uragasaurus kalasinensis, a 20-meter sauropod from Thailand's Khorat Plateau, as a member of Mamenchisauridae—a long-necked dinosaur family previously known only from China. CT scans of its bones revealed distinctive vertebral anatomy: a Y-shaped bone structure and air-cavity design matching the family's known traits. The 150-million-year-old find suggests Jurassic sauropods ranged more widely across Southeast Asia than previously believed.
