Antisemitism envoy proposes outside watchdog to monitor ABC and SBS Gaza coverage

Antisemitism envoy Jillian Segal has proposed an external independent ombudsman, a complaints watchdog, to monitor ABC and SBS coverage of the Gaza war. The proposal is in an updated plan released 30 October 2026. It also proposes a government-appointed panel review of past ABC and SBS reporting. Segal has voiced concern about the tone and frequency of ABC Gaza reporting.
