Most of Socrates Sculpture Park in Queens to stay closed until spring 2027 for seawall rebuild
Most of Socrates Sculpture Park's campus in Queens will stay closed until spring 2027. That is when the seawall, the shoreline barrier, is due to be finished. The New York City Department of Parks & Recreation broke ground on the rebuild in September 2026. Superstorm Sandy flooded the park in 2012. The work restores the shore to its pre-Sandy level.
