Ransomware Negotiator Sentenced for Aiding the Attackers He Was Hired to Oppose

Angelo Martino, a cybersecurity professional at DigitalMint, coordinated with ransomware hackers instead of negotiating against them. Throughout 2023, he supplied attackers with victim targeting data and payment information—insights he accessed through his job as a negotiator. Martino pleaded guilty in April 2026 and was sentenced this week. Two other cybersecurity professionals were already imprisoned for participating in the same scheme.
