EU Fines Meta 6% Revenue if It Doesn't Curb Addictive Design Features

The European Commission found Meta breached the Digital Services Act by failing to mitigate systemic risks from addictive design on Facebook and Instagram. Meta must disable infinite scroll and autoplay by default, introduce mandatory screen-time breaks, and deprioritize engagement in recommendation algorithms. Meta may submit a formal rebuttal. This is the Commission's second enforcement action against Meta this year.
