Sunrun Tests Home Solar Systems as Rental Compute Hubs for AI Companies

Sunrun launched a pilot July 8 installing AI compute nodes in customer homes with its solar and battery systems, then selling aggregated processing power to enterprise buyers. With 1.1 million installations, Sunrun partners with Renew Home and Tesla to test whether distributed residential hardware can economically bypass data center interconnection backlogs that stretch into multi-year utility queues.
