Kremlin Expects 48 Countries, 22 Leaders at 2026 Russia-Africa Summit

The Kremlin expects delegations from 48 countries, including 22 heads of state or government, at the 2026 Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow. The first summit, in Sochi in 2019, drew 43 African heads of state or government. The 2023 St. Petersburg meeting, held after Russia invaded Ukraine, drew 17 heads of state. Analyst Beverly Ochieng says political reasons mainly drive attendance.
