Akai develops unannounced 37-key MPC Sample Key with open-source firmware

Akai is developing a 37-key MPC Sample Key with no pads, according to The Verge. It plays back recorded audio clips, or samples, from its keys. It has not been formally announced, and no release date or price has been reported. Akai plans to give early units to developers in its modding community, and its firmware will be open source.
