Akai is working on an unannounced music keyboard with open-source software
Akai is developing a music-making MPC Sample Key, according to The Verge. It has 37 keys, no pads, and plays back sound clips, or samples, from its keys. It has not been announced, and no release date or price has been reported. Akai plans to give early units to hobbyists who modify gear, and its built-in software will be open source.
